A person who contaminated candy with sedative and gave them to children at a summer program in the area has admitted sexual offenses against two boys aged nine and 10.
The accused was taken into custody after eight children and a grown-up experienced illness at the location in the summer month.
The 76-year-old, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a multiple criminal counts when he stood at the judicial center on Friday.
Yet, he denied a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was against a young boy.
Ruben was held in detention ahead of a additional proceeding on November 28th.
'Sweet game'
Mary Prior KC, presenting evidence, described Ruben's offending to the judicial body.
She said his those affected were children from difficult backgrounds who were attending a summer program which he managed.
Ruben conducted a "treat game" with the minors, the prosecutor said, in which he would go into the boys' rooms when they were preparing to sleep and ask them to ingest treats "rapidly".
She told the court the defendant had conducted this practice with the boys "repeatedly", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the following morning.
She explained the defendant had been capable of justifying this repeatedly as the youngsters being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had worries in recently.
Mrs Prior KC continued: "This year his stepchild had concerns about the situation, for good reason.
"They resolved" to have a look in the man's possessions."
The legal counsel explained materials including lubricant, Vaseline and injection devices were located, and his stepson contacted the authorities about his concerns.
She said the man continued to engage in the "sweet game" with six youngsters that night - July 26th - and they were all ill the following morning.
"Authorities" had not gone out by that point," she continued.
The police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, previously told that it was reviewing Leicestershire Police's handling of the incident.
The prosecutor said the youngsters were struggling to walk due to their sickness, so the family member contacted the police a second time.
She said Ruben then engaged in the "sweet game" in a space of five children.
